Denturist
Denturist's jobs are to design, make, fit, and repair removable dentures, or "false teeth."
Core Tasks
- Examine patients’ mouths and decide what types of dentures are needed
- Take measurements of patients’ jaws
- Make moulds of gums and jaws, and any teeth
- Design and create dentures using wax, metal, and plastics
- Fit the denture into the patient’s mouth and make necessary adjustments
Workplace
- Most work in private denture clinics
- Split their time between treatment offices and labs
- Usually work 7 to 8 hours a day, 5 days a week
- May work evenings and weekends to accommodate clients’ schedules
Earnings
- $25,000 to $150,000 a year or more
- Denturists who own their own businesses usually have the highest earnings
- A large amount of the money made by a denturist practice goes to cover expenses
Education & Training
- A college diploma
- Registered to practice in your province or territory
